By making small, well-thought out upgrades to the Holy Cross Gala lighting and visual packages, GIGS was able to significantly increase the quality of the production while simultaneously reducing the school’s expenses. A flown-truss lighting scheme was chosen in favor of a ground-based one, and a canopy of 500’ of string lighting was added above the silent auction area. The 70” TVs on stands used in previous years were upgraded to three massive projector screens framing the dining area and stage, used to showcase custom-made videos and graphics throughout the evening. In the months leading up to the Gala, GIGS spent time on campus capturing green-screen and b-roll footage of the Holy Child student body and faculty. Eventgoers were entertained and informed by their daughters, friends, and faculty members at various moments, in silly and heartfelt video clips. For the Live Auction, instead of using standard verbal descriptions from the event MC, GIGS created a videos for each of the ten auction items, using stunning imagery and student voiceovers to immerse the guests in a larger than life, 360-view of the coveted prizes.
